Meet the artist

Hi there.

My name is Glynis, and I'm so glad you popped by to visit my website and see my work! I live in country NSW in Australia and I love it here except for the really hot days! I have lived here most of my life, apart from some time in Sydney, Melbourne, and a not-so-small place called Calexico in the Californian desert when I was a 16-year-old exchange student for a year.

I have always had a passion for creating by experimenting with different art and craft media and mediums. I also enjoy problem-solving by coming up with creative ways to find practical solutions to problems. When I completed high school, I meandered along a life path of unsatisfying education and employment. I nearly finished a Bachelor of Business degree, worked in hospitality and had different office admin roles. I worked in the finance sector at a major Australian bank and then with a financial planning firm where I completed a Diploma of Financial Services. Upon starting a family, I realised the finance sector was not for me and became a full-time Mum and had three children.

Career-wise, I felt lost. While I had worked with some wonderful people and businesses over the years, I didn't know where I belonged.

Once my children were all at school, I realised it was time to follow my heart and seek a study path that would lead me towards a fullfilled and creative career. While studying graphic design and photography at university, I developed a fascination with bookmaking, typography, multi-media art, and alternative photography, particularly cyanotypes. Vintage themes inspire my designs and art, with a focus on sustainable practices. I am an avid op-shopper so where possible, I will incorporate some of my op-shop finds into my art and products.

In 2012 and then again in 2018, my eldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer (brain tumour at age 5 and thyroid cancer at age 12). To show my appreciation to the many childhood cancer organisations that helped our family through those difficult years, you will find information about each of them here - maybe you can help them out in some way! I will also create a product(s) that will be available in my shop, with 100% of the profits from its sale to be donated to Country Hope. They are a wonderful local organisation that offers much-needed support to families living in country NSW who have a child with a life-threatening illness.

Blue Vintage's main focus is to share my love of the cyanotype, alongside other creative projects that I am inspired by. There are many things I am excited about and want to make, and they will mostly be made with a blue and gold theme.  I love all colours, but there is something special about the colours of blue and gold together - I hope it tugs at your heartstrings too. I look forward to sharing my work with you as soon as they are made.

Thank you for visiting my store. I hope you find something of interest among the pages, and you return regularly to check out what is new. Please register to receive my emails so I can keep in touch with you... or feel free to message me, I would love to hear from you!

Much love and blessings for good health and happiness.
